It’s only fair….

Rabbit appliqués for the Love with a Twist quilt along at Clever Chameleon

Do you remember a while back, how we had a mummy rabbit and her baby for Love with a Twist for Mother’s Day? So it seems only fair that we have a Love with a Twist daddy and his baby for Father’s Day too. Not more rabbits, though. That would be asking for trouble…. 🙂

Father’s Day?!? Yes, I know that most of the world celebrates Father’s Day in June… but there are a few outliers, and Australia is one of them. Father’s Day in Australia (and New Zealand, Fiji and PNG) is the first Sunday in September. Which this year, was September 1st. Unfortunately I was not ready to go with this block on September 1st, or even later in that week. And it was Royal Show Week anyway. But it is still September, and I am ready now, so let’s do this! If you’d prefer to come back and read this post on Father’s Day….. try October 6, apparently it’ll be Father’s Day in Luxembourg. 😀

This elephant duo (Edward and Ellie) is our first option for Block 10 of the Love with a Twist quilt along. You need both elephants to make this long thin block, but they come as individual downloads. So make sure you get both of them.

A very smiley crocodile will be our second option for Block 10. The Croc is currently in my schedule for Tuesday…. that’s the 31st of September, right? Right….. I did say I wasn’t going to be slave to the calendar on this quilt along, let’s show it who’s boss! Anyway…. keep reading today to download your two elephant pdf patterns and find out how to put them together.

Geometric Kitty: Colour & Inspiration Tuesday

Geometric Kitty colour board from Clever Chameleon

Welcome to Colour & Squirrel Tuesday!

Last night I was sifting through my email inbox and came across a reminder that September is Make Modern Magazine’s birthday month, and that they are throwing a party. And we all know how the Chameleon loves a party, so I thought I should take an evening off the paperwork to join in the festivities.

The result? An orange patchwork cat mini quilt top, and a very small dent in my orange and brown fabric scraps. 😀 The party runs until the end of September, so consider this your invitation! The Chameleon always loves a “plus one”.

Wishful Thinking: Colour & Inspiration Tuesday

Wishful thinking colour board at Clever Chameleon

I’ve been doing some Wishful Thinking…..

Child's Play icon with Island Batik

This month’s Island Batik Ambassador challenge has caused me lots and lots of thinking and sketching; drafting and redrafting. My task is to create a 45″ x 60″ or larger quilt for a child or a teen using the AccuQuilt Cleopatra’s Fan block die. They call this innocent-sounding little challenge “Child’s Play”.

Child’s Play?! “Rocket Science” is more like it! 😀 Tricky….. So many ideas, but all of them too small or too big or the wrong colour….etc, etc. Happily, in the end, I have a beautiful and simple idea for this month’s quilt. But, oh, the convoluted thought-roads I took to get there! Luckily for me there was some lovely mind-scenery on the way.

“She’s finally lost it”, I hear you thinking. Well….. likely so. But then, I have an imaginary Chameleon as a sidekick, so maybe I never “had it” to begin with, haha. Don’t worry, now that I know the way to the quilt, I will show you the shortcut. I will spare you the ideas maze.

Once Upon a Story: The Pied Piper

The Pied Piper quilt block by Ursula Prandtstetter

It’s Story Time!! Once Upon A Story…..

Once Upon a Story blog hop button

…. there was a hardworking and dedicated quilt blogger at Seams to be Sew. Her name was Marian.

One day, Marian decided to go into the internet forest in search of quilt designers to help create a huge blog hop. A blog hop where there would be a free quilt block pattern at every stop, and lots of prizes too.

Marian’s idea was a huge success. Five years later it was still going strong. It turns out that the internet forest is full of keen designers, quilt magic and readers who like quality prizes. But it also transpires that not all keen quilt designers are bloggers. So what to do? Easy! Make a wish, impose on your local Fairy Godmother, and get a Chameleon to pose as someone else! Consequently the Clever Chameleon is hosting a special guest for the Once Upon a Story hop today, and the guest’s pattern downloads too. The Chameleon is so happy he’s doing the happy lizard dance!

Ursula has written you a pattern for Once Upon A Story to celebrate the Pied Piper (Rattenfänger) tale. This story is traditional to her hometown of Korneuburg. What a terrific connection to this year’s theme! And Ursula’s pattern is available in both English and German – that’s dedication. Read on to find out Ursula’s story, collect her pattern and enter for today’s prize draws. Enjoy!
