It’s Story Time Again!! Once Upon A Story…..

Once Upon a Story blog hop button

…. there were two hardworking and dedicated quilt bloggers, one at Seams to be Sew and the other at Clever Chameleon. Their names were Marian and Dione.

One day, Marian decided to go into the internet forest in search of quilt designers to help create a huge blog hop. A blog hop where there would be a free quilt block pattern at every stop, and lots of prizes too. The theme was to be Fairy Tales and Nursery Rhymes: Once Upon A Story.

Dione, who spends a great deal of time tending to posts in the internet forest, thought she’d like to be part of this gig. Like all good forests though, this one was full of big bad wolves who tried to deceive and eat her: distraction, too many choices, changes of mind, poor organisation…. But also like all good fairy tales, the heroes won in the end. After much deliberation, Puss in Boots was the pick from her list of favourite fairy tales and nursery rhymes. The block was made, the pattern written and the post is up. The Chameleon slayed all the big bad wolves and Dione lived happily ever after…..

Welcome to my stop on the Once Upon a Story Row Along!

Once Upon a Story: The Pied Piper

The Pied Piper quilt block by Ursula Prandtstetter

It’s Story Time!! Once Upon A Story…..

…. there was a hardworking and dedicated quilt blogger at Seams to be Sew. Her name was Marian.

One day, Marian decided to go into the internet forest in search of quilt designers to help create a huge blog hop. A blog hop where there would be a free quilt block pattern at every stop, and lots of prizes too.

Marian’s idea was a huge success. Five years later it was still going strong. It turns out that the internet forest is full of keen designers, quilt magic and readers who like quality prizes. But it also transpires that not all keen quilt designers are bloggers. So what to do? Easy! Make a wish, impose on your local Fairy Godmother, and get a Chameleon to pose as someone else! Consequently the Clever Chameleon is hosting a special guest for the Once Upon a Story hop today, and the guest’s pattern downloads too. The Chameleon is so happy he’s doing the happy lizard dance!

So, just for today, the Clever Chameleon has a new identity. Er ist sehr aufgeregt! Please allow me to introduce Ursula Prandtstetter from Austria. Ursula has written you a pattern for Once Upon A Story to celebrate the Pied Piper (Rattenfänger) tale. This story is traditional to her hometown of Korneuburg. What a terrific connection to this year’s theme! And Ursula’s pattern is available in both English and German – that’s dedication. Read on to find out Ursula’s story, collect her pattern and enter for today’s prize draws. Enjoy!

Forest Fairy Crafts ebook giveaway

Forest Fairy creations by Clever Chameleon, inspired by the Forest Fairy Crafts book.

Welcome to our Forest Fairy Crafts book giveaway day!

Hiya! As promised last Sunday, I am back today to show you all the things my daughter and I made from Lenka Vodicka-Paredes and Asia Currie’s latest book, “Forest Fairy Crafts through the Seasons”. It is the sequel to Forest Fairy Crafts published in 2013.

Forest Fairy Crafts through the Seasons is a cute book that leads you far enough down the garden path to complete any of the projects as shown – but also leaves you plenty of scope to adapt them to your own crafting style. BYO personal tastes, substituted supplies and imaginations are highly encouraged. However, if you have misplaced your crafting mojo, there is also plenty to get started with in the book by simply following the instructions. And I reckon, that once you get started, your imagination will invite itself on over anyways! 😀

Today I’ll tell you how you can enter to win an e-copy of this book for yourself or your favourite fairy-lover. There are opportunities in this post, as well as on the rest of the blogs on the Forest Fairy Tour.

How Fairy Exciting. Forest Fairy Crafts ahoy!

Fairy made of felt and thread

Let’s do something a little bit different today, just for fun!

This week I took a break from quilting to do some other crafting. Although it’s not unheard of to find random craft projects on Clever Chameleon, I admit I haven’t done any non-quilty crafting for the blog for ages. It felt good to detour for a day or two!

Forest Fairy Crafts book cover

A while back, I was invited by C&T Publishing to join Lenka Vodicka-Paredes and Asia Currie on a blog hop for their book “Magical Forest Fairy Crafts Through the Seasons”. Well, I couldn’t resist. The book is really cute, the instructions are easy to follow and are genuinely aimed at helping you craft with children. And the icing on the fairy cakes? The projects are designed to use really. sensible. items! In fact, I did not need to buy a thing before my daughter and I could give this book a really good workout – and my non-quilting stash is not very extensive.

Today I’d like to introduce you to Lenka and Asia, and their sweet book. And I’ll point you in the direction of their blog tour so you can have a go at winning an e-copy of the book for yourself. Yay for new friends, fun ideas and a bit of childhood magic!
