Love with a Twist: Wonder Wader

Wonder Wader Flamingo appliqué from the Love with a Twist series by Dione Gardner-Stephen of Clever Chameleon

It’s that time again!

My monthly Ambassador challenges are done. Various minor and secret projects are plugging along according to schedule. So my thoughts are free to turn once again to our Love with a Twist sew along. 😀 Yay! I’ve had so much fun with these to date. How are your blocks going?

This month we are standing tall and tackling Block 3. The first option for Block 3 is a lofty Flamingo, in a few days we will have an even loftier giraffe. A balloon animal quilt would not be complete without the option of a giraffe, don’t you think? Quite so! But, Wonder Wader, the flamingo is first. Keep reading to collect your flamingo balloon pdf pattern and find out all the details for making the most of the next block of the Love with a Twist quilt along.

Love with a Twist: Jolly Jumper

No more Frogs after this for a while, I promise

But seriously, can you resist this face?! This adorably agile amphibian is the second option for Block 4 of our Love with a Twist appliqué series. Which puts him in direct competition with the Duck of Attitude from June 21.

Can you choose? Or do you have to make two throw quilts to fit them both in? Of course you can just opt to make the big twin size one and have them play together. 😀 Keep reading to collect your balloon frog pdf pattern and find out all the details for making the most of the next block of the Love with a Twist quilt along.

Love with a Twist: Qwazy Quacker

Qwazy Quacker Duck appliqué from the Love with a Twist series by Dione Gardner-Stephen of Clever Chameleon

“A duck walked up to the lemonade stand…..”

Last post, Denise commented that my balloon duck appliqué has attitude. 😀 As unintentional as that actually was, I agree. And in light of that comment, my duck appliqué suddenly reminded me some of the duck from The Duck Song by Bryant Oden.

….. and he said to the man running the stand, “Hey! bup bup bup…..”

“Got any Grapes?! “

Bahahahaha. That legendary song has helped my family through countless moments/hours of boredom over the years. Driving a long way? No worries, play The Duck Song. Waiting at the doctors? No worries, play The Duck Song. My kids have even added extra verses of their own on occasion. If you thought the Rubber Duckie earworm from Tuesday was cruel, get a load of The Duck Song stuck between your ears! What is it about ducks that causes them to be the subject of annoying songs anyway?

Your reward for smiling and nodding while I go on about duck songs is the next free pattern from the Love with a Twist series. Also in this post, a couple of housekeeping items…. we announce the winner of the Forest Fairy Crafts ebook and also remind you about a correction to the Fabulous Fish block pattern from May.

Sorry, couldn’t help it…. I’ve been working on the next block for our Love with a Twist quilt along. No prizes for guessing that it’s a duck. And that I have done my appliqué in yellow and orange. 😀 And given myself a dose of “Rubber Duckie” earworm from Ernie of Sesame Street.

This set of thoughts also reminds me of the huge rubber duck sculptures by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman that brightened up cities all over the world between 2007 and 2017. They still make me smile.

I hope this post brightens up your inbox like a huge rubber duck in an international seaport! And also I hope you’ll pop over to the blog for a dose of Colour & Inspiration Tuesday and a sneak peek at June’s Love with a Twist appliqués. Psst… I plan to have the duck pattern ready for you on Friday.

Love with a Twist: Fabulous Fish

Fabulous Fish appliqués for the Love with a Twist quilt along at Clever Chameleon

Our last Fishy Post for the foreseeable future

We’ve been stuck on the theme of all things aquatic here for a while now, haven’t we? I’m not really sure how that happened…. maybe because ideas spark more related ideas and I have been following the ideas flow a bit more freely than usual lately. Maybe it’s just a bit of good old fashioned coincidence, since Love in the Twist was planned out in January. Either way, I promise we will move on at some point to another topic soonish…. maybe in July 😀

June will see yet more more pond creatures brought in from the cold. A balloon frog and a balloon duckling. But as May inexplicably disappears, today you have a fishy Love with a Twist pattern to collect right here first. Fabulous Fish is one of our options for Love with a Twist Block 5 – the alternative to Rascally Rabbit. Keep reading to collect your fish balloon pdf pattern and find out all the details for making the most of the next block of the Love with a Twist quilt along.
