Love with a Twist: Classy Crocodile

What a Load of Croc colour board at Clever Chameleon

What a Load of Croc! Colour & Inspiration Tuesday

“Never Smile at a Crocodile, Oh, you can’t get friendly with a Crocodile….. “

What a load of croc! Classy Crocodile will be your friend any day. He even promises not to nibble at your edges. He has no idea why you would not want to be BFFs with him, so the least you can do is give him a grin!

September 31

Do you know what else is a load of crock?! October! Well, not October per se, but the fact that it’s here already. Not goooooood! Where’d September go anyway? I’m thinking the last half of September is probably still around here somewhere…. under a pile of papers perhaps? I can even prove that I didn’t use up all of September, because I am still standing here holding a crocodile balloon pattern. And the crocodile balloon is our second September balloon for Love with a Twist, so the month is clearly not done! As a temporary measure, while I work out where the time leak is, I declare today to be the 31st of September and we’ll sneak in that Classy Croc.

Classy Crocodile is our second option for Block 10 of the Love with a Twist quilt along, competing with our elephants for your affections. If you leave him off the quilt though, be aware that there will be floods of crocodile tears! And you must never disappoint a Crocodile; that much is good advice! Keep reading today to download your balloon crocodile pdf pattern and find out how to put him together. And then join in our usual Colour & Inspiration Tuesday party. All the best parties have animal balloons! 😀

Love with a Twist: Excellent Elephants

Excellent Edward Elephant balloon appliqué from the Love with a Twist series by Dione Gardner-Stephen of Clever Chameleon

It’s only fair….

Rabbit appliqués for the Love with a Twist quilt along at Clever Chameleon

Do you remember a while back, how we had a mummy rabbit and her baby for Love with a Twist for Mother’s Day? So it seems only fair that we have a Love with a Twist daddy and his baby for Father’s Day too. Not more rabbits, though. That would be asking for trouble…. 🙂

Father’s Day?!? Yes, I know that most of the world celebrates Father’s Day in June… but there are a few outliers, and Australia is one of them. Father’s Day in Australia (and New Zealand, Fiji and PNG) is the first Sunday in September. Which this year, was September 1st. Unfortunately I was not ready to go with this block on September 1st, or even later in that week. And it was Royal Show Week anyway. But it is still September, and I am ready now, so let’s do this! If you’d prefer to come back and read this post on Father’s Day….. try October 6, apparently it’ll be Father’s Day in Luxembourg. 😀

This elephant duo (Edward and Ellie) is our first option for Block 10 of the Love with a Twist quilt along. You need both elephants to make this long thin block, but they come as individual downloads. So make sure you get both of them.

A very smiley crocodile will be our second option for Block 10. The Croc is currently in my schedule for Tuesday…. that’s the 31st of September, right? Right….. I did say I wasn’t going to be slave to the calendar on this quilt along, let’s show it who’s boss! Anyway…. keep reading today to download your two elephant pdf patterns and find out how to put them together.

Once Upon a Story: The Pied Piper

The Pied Piper quilt block by Ursula Prandtstetter

It’s Story Time!! Once Upon A Story…..

Once Upon a Story blog hop button

…. there was a hardworking and dedicated quilt blogger at Seams to be Sew. Her name was Marian.

One day, Marian decided to go into the internet forest in search of quilt designers to help create a huge blog hop. A blog hop where there would be a free quilt block pattern at every stop, and lots of prizes too.

Marian’s idea was a huge success. Five years later it was still going strong. It turns out that the internet forest is full of keen designers, quilt magic and readers who like quality prizes. But it also transpires that not all keen quilt designers are bloggers. So what to do? Easy! Make a wish, impose on your local Fairy Godmother, and get a Chameleon to pose as someone else! Consequently the Clever Chameleon is hosting a special guest for the Once Upon a Story hop today, and the guest’s pattern downloads too. The Chameleon is so happy he’s doing the happy lizard dance!

So, just for today, the Clever Chameleon has a new identity. Er ist sehr aufgeregt! Please allow me to introduce Ursula Prandtstetter from Austria. Ursula has written you a pattern for Once Upon A Story to celebrate the Pied Piper (Rattenfänger) tale. This story is traditional to her hometown of Korneuburg. What a terrific connection to this year’s theme! And Ursula’s pattern is available in both English and German – that’s dedication. Read on to find out Ursula’s story, collect her pattern and enter for today’s prize draws. Enjoy!

Pulling my Hares Out: Colour & Inspiration Tuesday

Hares and Castle colour board at Clever Chameleon

Still Working on Things

Once Upon a Story row-along at Seams to be Sew

Another sneak peek today for the Once Upon a Story blog hop. Today I’m pulling my Hares out. Don’t worry, just my applique ones. And I am not reverse-stitching, just unveiling. 🙂

Remember last week, how we met the Ogre from Puss in Boots? And how he turned out not to be such a bad guy after all, even filling in briefly for the AWOL Chameleon? Well, today we add the Ogre’s castle and more of his possessions to the Ogre and partridges panel. Did you know that the group noun for hares is a drove?

Anyway, we now have on my Once Upon a Story block: a covey of partridges; an ugly of ogre; a drove of hares; and a castle…..

All we need now for this quilt block is……. an attitude of cat…..

Cat on quilt

Yeah, not that one….. the other one. Puss in Boots.

Love with a Twist: Omniscient Owl

Omniscient Owl balloon appliqué from the Love with a Twist series by Dione Gardner-Stephen of Clever Chameleon

Owl Love You Forever…..

Our all-knowing balloon owl for Love with a Twist is an observant old bird. And a bit of a snoop too. In fact, he knows too much about most people and loves us all anyway. Although this version of him looks a bit worried for some reason….. perhaps he knows something about me that he shouldn’t. I wonder what’s ruffled his feathers? haha.

This owl applique is already sewn onto my Twin size version of Love with a Twist. When I make a second owl for my Throw size quilt, perhaps I will take more care in positioning the eyes to get a more optimistic expression. I am sure you will take note of my owl and take more care with yours, unless you like his slightly startled-looking persona, of course. 😀 Then again, maybe it takes all types to make a quilt….. he certainly looks just fine in the context of my entire project so far. He might be worried about me, but the feeling is not really mutual. I like having a few characters around the place.

Omniscient Owl is our second option for Block 7 of the Love with a Twist quilt along. The wisest of followers will add him to their Love with a Twist collection asap. So, keep reading to download your pdf pattern and find out how to put him together.
