July is coming! Are you ready!? No?! Join the club and bunker down – it’s coming anyway! At least that means the next Beary Colourful BOM Bear is on his way.
I am noticing that all my Northern Hemisphere blogging friends are posting lots of pretty Spring and Summery-looking garden posts. Rays of sunshine in my cold grey wintery days. Sadly, our recent wintery days are probably not actually as grey as they should be – we really could do with a lot more rain before Spring arrives to turn the neighbourhood yellow-green again.
Yellow-Green for July
July will undoubtably be chilly here, but I am warming to Spring early this year. Because July’s Color Challenge colour is yellow-green, a colour that always reminds me of fresh growth. So July’s Beary Colourful Bear will be yellow-green and celebrating all things growing like a garden in the Spring. Don’t forget to head over to Facebook for some sneak peeks of July’s bear over the next few days. And I might try to put them on Instagram this month too – look at me growing and getting all tech savvy! *lol snort* Watch @cleverchameleon to see if I succeed!
And read on for reminders about June’s Color Challenge prize link-up, the fun features from last week’s Colour Inspiration Tuesday link-up and your chance to woo the Chameleon this week with your own quilts.
There’s still time for Purple for June
Thankfully, July is only trying to intimidate you at this stage….. you do actually have a few more days to get on top of your June Color Challenge. Make a purple quilt block or purple bear for the June prize draw at Patterns by Jen and link up by Saturday. You are playing for this modern fabrics prize pack from Art Gallery Fabrics:
Don’t forget you also get an entry for the grand prize of quilting by the wonderful Jen of the Dizzy Quilter, each and every time you enter a monthly challenge coloured project.
Now, let’s have a look at what some of you clever chameleons were up to this past week!
Andrée from Quilting and Learning – What a Combo! made me smile again this week with her batik hexie flowers for the Kingfisher Stitch Along. Not only are her hexies super pretty, but she photographed them in her garden alongside her matching blooms. The Chameleon thought that looked like a lot of fun, and that he should get in on that act too. Trust him!
Andrée has a whole series of hexie pics in her garden, so go visit her post and enjoy her beautiful flowers of both kinds.
And Marie of Octopus Patchwork made me smile even more with her post about her progress on her octopus quilt for her nephew. Marie’s blog is brand new and named after this exact octopus quilt. She also only started quilting a few months ago. AND she blogs in two languages! How about you head over to her blog and say hello….. and tell her what an amazing job she is doing. New blogs need all the support they can get, and this one’s a cracker.
The Chameleon wonders what it is like to be an octopus…. He’s heard octopuses like gardening too……
Silly Chameleon!
If you’re not already humming the Octopus’s Garden against your will, here’s your ear-worm for the week, courtesy of Ringo and the Beatles of course.
“I’d like to be under the sea
In an octopus’s garden in the shade
He’d let us in, knows where we’ve been
In his octopus’s garden in the shade”
You’re welcome! 🙂
I hope you will visit today’s fresh features. And my sincerest thanks to everyone who linked up last week. If you were featured you can find a badge of honour here.
Now it’s your turn to share. Link up to this week’s Chameleon’s Colour party!
What are you working on, or have recently finished in your sewing room? Link up a blog post, a Flicker pic, an IG post or simply a photo from your computer. See if you can get the Chameleon to turn quilted with happiness. We’d love to see your quilting colours.
Guidelines (more detail here):
- Link up your latest or recent quilt excitement. All construction stages welcome, from a quilt plan, a fabric pull, quilt blocks, a flimsy, to a finished quilt…. if you have a photo you love, we want to see it.
- You have 100 characters in the link description…. tell us who you are and what wonderful colours you’ve chosen. Inspire us with your colour scheme!
- URLs are not necessary to link up, but if you have one, please use the direct link (not your homepage). A link back is appreciated but not necessary. Remember you can link photos straight from your computer…. non-bloggers 100% welcome!
- Do you use muted/pastel/low volume colours? Fantastic….. the Chameleon wants to see Everything, not just the bright stuff!
- Do it now……. before you forget! And I’ll see you on Sunday with the Yellow-Green bear.

Thank you for the feature Dionne!
I am the one who is rainbow with pleasure now!
You’ve chosen my favorite color green! I’d choose it over a splash of yellow any day!
Thanks so much for the shout out Dione. It’s really weird reading about it being winter right now. Intellectually I know that on the other side of the equator that it’s the reverse, but it’s bizarre to think of July as winter and cold (well sometime’s it’s cool here but usually it’s way too hot, and I live in the north!) I’m really happy that the Clever Chameleon likes my hexies and flowers. He should so get into that too!
