Pulling my Hares Out: Colour & Inspiration Tuesday

Hares and Castle colour board at Clever Chameleon

Still Working on Things

Once Upon a Story row-along at Seams to be Sew

Another sneak peek today for the Once Upon a Story blog hop. Today I’m pulling my Hares out. Don’t worry, just my applique ones. And I am not reverse-stitching, just unveiling. 🙂

Remember last week, how we met the Ogre from Puss in Boots? And how he turned out not to be such a bad guy after all, even filling in briefly for the AWOL Chameleon? Well, today we add the Ogre’s castle and more of his possessions to the Ogre and partridges panel. Did you know that the group noun for hares is a drove?

Anyway, we now have on my Once Upon a Story block: a covey of partridges; an ugly of ogre; a drove of hares; and a castle…..

All we need now for this quilt block is……. an attitude of cat…..

Cat on quilt

Yeah, not that one….. the other one. Puss in Boots.

This morning I headed into the Showgrounds

Speaking of that cat and that Shine Bright quilt…. I went and collected my new quilt show ribbons this morning. Here’s all my goodies, returned home.

2019 Royal Adelaide Show prizes

Now I have to find somewhere to hang the quilts….. and possibly work out some sort of rotation system so I can see them all once in a while. I’m running out of wall space for hanging wall quilts. At least I have somewhere for the rosettes now 🙂

I had a lot of nice comments after my last post about our local Show, thank you. One comment in particular reminded me of something I think you might enjoy. Susan mentioned that they do not have horse events like the show jumping at her local fair, but they do have a demolition derby. Which got me remembering the years pre-small-children, when we stayed at the Show until the closing fireworks to watch the precision driving and stunt motorcycle displays. One of my favourite memories of the Show is an iconic act we had for a few years….. the Extreme Dancing Machines!!! I managed to find a video from the 2011 Royal Adelaide Show. You do not have to be into any sort of machinery to enjoy dancing bobcats, and it’s less than 2 minutes of footage…… go on, watch it, prepare to smile!

If you are South Australian, and my age or older, this probably took you right back to the days of the Farmers’ Union Iced Coffee commercials, right?!

Anyway, Back to the Quilting

Love with a Twist button

Except for three hares and a castle, I haven’t done any sewing this week. But I have been busy drafting patterns. It’s not very visually exciting, but I have finished the drafts for ALL the remaining Love with a Twist blocks. Yay!!! All I have to do now is the actual samples and I will have my quilt tops done.

I also have a blog post ready for Thursday. It is Ursula’s turn to give you a story block pattern for the Once Upon a Story row-along, and her post and pattern are being hosted right here on Clever Chameleon. There are three new hop stops to visit today first though, so don’t forget to go to the following links:

The team’s got me covered

While I’ve been writing and drawing, I’ve been enjoying sewing by proxy. Reading about all the projects of last week’s party guests. The Chameleon’s so excited to be back that he can’t decide how to colour himself!

If you pause him in his over-excitedness, you might see him reflecting one of these beautiful creations:

If another of the Chameleon’s colour spasms caught your eye but isn’t one of those listed here with a link, you can always find out about it from the link up post at last Tuesday’s party.

And how about joining this week’s party? The more, the merrier!

The Chameleon is back, and he’s promised not to skive off work again (for now), so let’s see….. What are you working on, or have recently finished in your sewing room? We want to know, even if you’re just pulling your Hares out. Link up a blog post, an IG post or simply a photo from your computer.  See if you can get the Chameleon to turn quilted with happiness. We’d love to see your quilting colours!
