It’s Still Rabbit Season
Hi! It’s Tuesday, and I’ve got nothing new (that I can show you). Busy as a beaver behind the scenes – but nothing ready to go public. So, today we are simply going to bask in the warm fuzzy glow of the two rabbit patterns I released in the past week (make sure you have them downloaded) and admire some new inspiration kindly left for us last week by our Clever Chameleon community.
I also tried out one of our previous inspiration features for myself this week. That, I can give you a glimpse of, so read on to see. Then enjoy some of the latest linkups, and share what you’ve been up to. Happy quilting!
Are you up to date on your Love with a Twist collection?
Have you downloaded your Love with a Twist Balloon Rabbit patterns yet? You can get Rascally Rabbit (the baby one) in last Friday’s post. And Responsible Rabbit (the mummy one) in Sunday’s post. Only Rascally Rabbit is required for the throw size quilt, but you need both for the twin size quilt.
The one thing I can show you from my secret quilting
Among our features last week, I showed you Susan’s post about her Dragon Fruit quilting motif on Quilt Fabrication.
I liked the mix of straight lines, points and curves in Susan’s fill, so I thought I would give it a go. I ended up trying it from memory, which means that the spirals in the centre of each “slice of dragon fruit” are bigger than Susan’s, but that’s fine.
Here’s my own attempt at “dragon fruit-like” quilting (from the back so that I don’t reveal anything sensitive).
Have you tried any quilting ideas you spied on the internet lately?
Now, to last week’s Inspiration Party features…
I’ll do a couple more than usual, since I have little else to go on about. 🙂
Claire at knitNkwilt made a couple of pieced backings for quilts in her queue. I especially liked this one….. I think it could just as easily be a modern quilt top. In fact, it is not that dissimilar to what I have in mind for my modern quilt challenge for May, but in different colours. Lots and lots of empty space to practice quilting.
Thanks for sharing, Claire.
We have two aquatic scenes, which felt very familiar after the past month or so on Clever Chameleon. Jeanette at quilted_collie on IG shared her underwater collage called Treasures of the Moonfish. Look how enamoured the Chameleon is!
And Andrée at Quilting and Learning – What a Combo! is gradually building up a terrific pond scene in free-motion embroidery. Wander over to see more of her piece and also check out the latest Free-motion Mavericks linkups.
Last, but not least, Judy at JBigg’s Scrap Pieces blogged about her progress in turning a Stonehenge panel into a quilt. I love the colours in her chosen fabrics and the friendship stars she is adding to the panel to create size and interest. Stonehenge is one location that the Chameleon would visit in a heartbeat.

Happy reading! Then….
Ferret out your favourite post….
Tell us, what are you working on, or have recently finished in your sewing room? We want to know so we can visit, admire and be inspired. Link up a blog post, an IG post or simply a photo from your computer. See if you can get the Chameleon to turn quilted with happiness. We’d love to see your quilting colours!
How to be a part of the Chameleon’s Quilting Inspiration Party….
- Link up your latest or recent quilt/sewing excitement. All quilt construction stages welcome – finished quilts, quilt blocks – even fabric pulls! Or inspiration sources!
- You have 50 characters in the link description…. tell us who you are and what your fantastic project is.
- URL links are not necessary to link up…. non-bloggers 100% welcome! If you don’t have a URL, you can link up with just a photo.
- Take a moment to visit some friends who came to the party – leave a little love and make their day. And a link back to Clever Chameleon is always appreciated.
- Do it now……. before you forget!
The Chameleon turns rainbow with pleasure when he hears from you. I am more reserved, so I will respond in gratitude by email instead. Now that it’s your turn…. Scroll right to the end, leave me a comment and tell me, what do you think? Thanks for connecting!

Ferrets and rabbits – oh my! I love your quilting experiment – and I am just trying more and being freer about it in my anticipation of the SS Tabitha showing up – I’ll explain the name in a future post!
What fabric is that you quilted Susan’s design on, I love it? I had a ferret named Hobbs and he was adorable much like your bunnies. Stop by my site Thursday for my linky party please.
Hi Dione! That is so funny – I have been thinking about Susan’s Dragon Fruit quilting pattern myself. I’ve found that when I wake up during the night I trace the design on my sheet over and over. I should have it in my muscle memory now! I even have a quilt I’m going to try it on. Your sneak peek on your secret project looks just fab to me. http://homesewnbyus.com/me-thinks-a-beothuk-update-is-needed/
Your Dragon Fruit quilting looks great – you put your own signature on it! Thanks for the showcase!

Your dragon fruit quilting looks great, Dione! I agree — it’s a great combination of curves with spikes. I’m looking forward to seeing the front of this secret project of yours!
