Rubber Duckie You’re the One…… You make bathtime lots of fun!….
Rubber Duckie, I’m awfully fond of yooooooo-ooooou!
Sorry, couldn’t help it…. I’ve been working on the next block for our Love with a Twist quilt along. No prizes for guessing that it’s a duck. And that I have done my appliqué in yellow and orange. 😀 And given myself a dose of “Rubber Duckie” earworm from Ernie of Sesame Street.
This set of thoughts also reminds me of the huge rubber duck sculptures by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman that brightened up cities all over the world between 2007 and 2017. They still make me smile.
I hope this post brightens up your inbox like a huge rubber duck in an international seaport! And also I hope you’ll pop over to the blog for a dose of Colour & Inspiration Tuesday and a sneak peek at June’s Love with a Twist appliqués. Psst… I plan to have the duck pattern ready for you on Friday.
This week’s action on the Chameleon’s chameleon quilt
Everything almost always takes longer than you think it should, doesn’t it?! I had grand plans of getting everything done early this month, ha ha. I was going to have my music bag finished….(nope), the Love with a Twist patterns for June finished….. (nope), the chameleon quilt fini…. oh never mind.
I did make some good progress on the Chameleon quilt though. The appliqués are all done – in trapunto style. And I have finished a little more than half the quilting. Here’s a peek. It’s probably all you’ll get until July…. by the time I have posted two blocks for our Love with a Twist quilt along, and finished the music bag for Island Batik, June will be over. But do stay tuned, I am committed to a timely finish on this.
This chameleon quilt is the first quilt that I have ever quilted really densely like this. The background quilting is mostly bubbles, with a few flowers and leaves thrown in. Baby steps, but watch out Angela Walters. Or not. 😀
I also finished my June Love with a Twist samples
This month we have a frog on a lilypad. And the aforementioned duck.
Rubber duckie, I’d like a whole pond of…….
Rubber duckie, I’m awfully fond of ……..
You!
…. and you thought I’d moved on ……
Actually I need to dwell on the Love with a Twist thing for one moment longer. If you downloaded the Fabulous Fish appliqué pattern last month very quickly after it was released, you will need to download it again. Sorry. The original pdf had an omission of the second page of appliqué pieces – that has been corrected. Thanks Helma for picking that up so quickly! If you downloaded within the last week, your file is the new one. I will also post this notice again in the Duck post coming soon.
The latest Chameleon Features
The chameleon had so much trouble choosing between the link ups for a feature this week – they were all so different and brilliant. But here goes…..
The Chameleon took a trip to Mt Fuji with Grace of Grace and Peace Quilting…. check out Grace’s Cherrywood fabric challenge piece! The Chameleon specifically liked the way the yellow border lifted Grace’s project into something quite eye-catching. For the full story, and some Japanese Garden zen, head over to Grace’s.
Then there was Sandra’s Island Batik project at mmm! quilts – her Luminous Layers design come to life and chock full of thought and interesting features.
Even with a looming deadline, Sandra added a stellar backing and supernova quilting. All the details are there for you to drool over in Sandra’s post.
And there was nothing mickey mouse about Eve of Destruxion’s fussy cut paper piecing round up. Well, actually there was… if you visit Patches of Destruxion, you will find that Eve’s latest collection of finished EPP hexies includes this sweet Mickey Mouse block. I love it.
For all of the other links from last week, visit the collection at the bottom of this post here). There is a no-hand-sew hexie tutorial by Denise. And insanely small mini quilts by Turid. The list goes on!
And don’t forget, if you’d like a chance to win an ebook copy of “Forest Fairy Crafts through the Seasons” you can find out all the details in my previous post. Don’t delay though, as the competition closes at the end of my Thursday here in South Australia.
Then make like a daisy chain and link up!
Tell us, what are you working on, or have recently finished in your sewing room? We want to know so we can visit, admire and be inspired. Link up a blog post, an IG post or simply a photo from your computer. See if you can get the Chameleon to turn quilted with happiness. We’d love to see your quilting colours!
How to be a part of the Chameleon’s Quilting Inspiration Party….

The Chameleon turns rainbow with pleasure when he hears from you. I am more reserved, so I will respond in gratitude by email instead. Now that it’s your turn…. Scroll right to the end, leave me a comment and tell me, what do you think? Thanks for connecting!

Thanks for featuring me again! I am quite taken with the colour pallette this week, organised like that next to the photo it looks a bit like a sunset/sunrise over water.
You always make me smile with the Love with a twist characters. Your duck has attitude, I like him.
Rubber duckie is too much fun but soon I will tire of the earworm – but at least its a cheery one! It, of course, will be fun to see it!
Some definite progress going on! Great! Love the dense quilting. I had to LOL–the chameleon climbing Mount Fuji!!! Thanks for the repost!!!
Cute duckie 😉
Ah, that sweet little frog, I love him. Today I’ve been playing with some really small scraps of blue I got from a friend. And surely one of the blocks had to be turned into a new pincushion.
Well first of all, thank you for the feature! Second, wow, I am loving your chameleon quilt; the quilting–!! to die for so far.
Hi Dione, yes, everything always takes longer than expected….or life just gets in the way 🙂 Good luck with all of your plans. I am looking forward to seeing your great work!
