November is blog hop month for half the Island Batik Ambassadors (specifically, the half who did not hop in August). Our theme this time is “A Piece Of…..”, open to any interpretation we wish. The instructions given were to make a quilt, lap size or larger, showcasing as many fabrics as possible from our allocated collection. And so today, after weeks of threadful teasing, and awful puns about sea-cret sewing, I can take pity on you. Today we finally have the Blue Sea quilt “big reveal”.

If you’ve been following along, you already know a little of what the Blue Sea fabrics look like. You probably also know the basic pattern that I’ve chosen. And you likely even know that the Chameleon has been messing around. But do you know what my Blue Sea Storm at Sea morphed into? Nope? Well, let’s take a look-sea! I hope you’ll enjoy my “Piece of” the deep Blue Sea that is now called “Safe Harbour Seahorses”. And enter the competitions to win Island Batik fabrics. Good luck!

Green Hearts 4 Christchurch – Finished Flimsy

Green Hearts 4 Christchurch quilt. Green nine-patch quilt with pieced appliqué hearts at Clever Chameleon.

Green Hearts for the Healing Hearts for Christchurch Project

A quick post to mark a quick flimsy finish. My Green Hearts 4 Christchurch quilt top is finished. I like it – it was a great way to use up some fabric scraps. Admittedly it’s no show quilt – it was made in a mild hurry by two people of very different sewing styles on two very different machines. But it is filled with caring, and it is very calming in colour and form. It has already performed some significant soothing during its construction – hopefully it will continue to weave its magic as it is passed on to be quilted and bound and, finally, gifted.

If you’d like to make an appliqué heart project, for Christchurch victims/responders or any other special cause or person in your life, the heart template I drew and used is freely available for download in this post.
