Red-Violet Bear is so bursting full of health and vitality you could probably catch a wellness from this guy! He chooses good healthy food full of vitamins and antioxidants. He chooses clean air, drinks lots of water, exercises regularly. And he knows that treats are only “sometimes foods”. If there is a healthy choice to be made, Red-Violet Ted is all over it like a rash. He is of course too perfect to be true, and can get a bit irritating like the aforementioned health issue. But he isn’t into guilt trips. He just genuinely wants to inspire you to be just a little bit kinder to your body today than you were yesterday!
Please welcome the very energetic and springy Bear of Healthy Choices to the Beary Colourful family. I’m not sure this quilt is really big enough to contain him, as he looks ready to leap off his block. He also looks good enough to eat, but you’d have to catch him first!

On the weekend I was treated for my birthday with a ticket to the current exhibition at our state art gallery. This exhibition has my name all over it – it is called “Colours of Impressionism”. A collection of masterpieces from the Musée d’Orsay, this exhibition shows the progressive use of colour over time by Impressionist and then Neo-Impressionist painters.

The weekend before the Easter break, Paul and I had the rare pleasure of two nights away without the kids….. actually it might be the first time we’ve had two consecutive nights away without the kids……hmmmmm. Anyway, we escaped out of the city and spent two days in the Adelaide Hills, admiring the beginnings of autumn, relishing the warm weather and drinking in the quiet. It felt amazing.
On the second afternoon, Paul decided to have a post-schnitzel snooze and I lurked about the farm where we were staying. Mostly I was trying to get some horse photos for our daughter. But the only animals that seemed to want their pictures taken was this flock of galahs.

After Local Quilt Shop Day, the next theme on the Island Batik calendar is 13th February – Galentine’s Day. Galentine’s Day?! Yes. GAL-antine’s Day, for celebrating Gal-friends, ie your best girl pals, BFFs.
To celebrate Galentine’s Day, the Island Batik Ambassadors are creating mug rugs or quilted postcards or similar in a Galentine’s theme. For reasons that will become clear in a moment, my Galentine is created with crayon not batiks. My Galentine is also a little tongue in cheek rather than sentimental, and I hope it will make you smile. As a bonus I have turned my Galentine into a virtual postcard that you can download for free and send to all your friends. If you’re game! But before we get to that……
Apparently, Galentine’s Day is the unofficial holiday for chicks……
