Camouflage is for Wimps!

Welcome to my stop on the Seaside Adventure Row-along tour!

Today is the last pattern release day for the Seaside Adventure Row Along and it’s time to release my tribute block in memory of Marian Pena.

For the past three years I have participated in Marian’s epic annual row-along at Seams to be Sew – if you have been involved before you would remember…. 50 bloggers,, each with a themed block pattern, and lots and lots of prizes and prize draws. It was bigger than big! In the years I participated we had themes of My Happy Place, Once Upon a Story and It’s A Garden Party.

And each time we had a blast! Then this year we were all set to go on a Seaside Adventure together, but instead we found ourselves all at sea when Marian suddenly passed away. ….. 🙁

But thanks to Mel Shields of The Quilting Room with Mel, we were not completely shipwrecked. Mel has put in the hard yards to host Marian’s final row along event and keep the Seaside Adventure hoppers on track. I hope you will drop by Mel’s blog and express your thanks.

Today is the last pattern release day, with myself, Beth Strand and Mel offering patterns. At Beth’s place you will find snail-trail waves, from Mel there is a scrappy jellyfish pattern and I am offering a block of tessellated fish. Three last fun and creative ideas for a ocean-themed quilt.

Seaside Adventures: Week 7

Week 7 has nearly come and gone!

“Oh my fur and whiskers! I’m late! I’m late! Im late!”

Not too late though, thankfully. Just in time to invite you to last week’s unbirthday party. In the Seaside Adventure row-along everyone gets gifts – free quilt block patterns for all!

(Even if it’s actually your birthday!)

And yes, we’re all mad here……

Seaside Adventures: Week 6

Only two more weeks in the row-along after this!

How time flies when you are having fun!

This week the Chameleon has decided to take a break from touring and spend some time in one spot…. Lazing under a beach umbrella every day and head out snorkelling on the reef making friends with the reef fish.

And thinking about his block pattern day coming up soon. His pattern is all ready to go, and he can’t wait to share it with you in less than a fortnight’s time.

You’ll never guess what our shy, retiring Chameleon chose as the theme for his row-along block design…… Camouflage! Or perhaps, more accurately, the lack of it……

And yes, he’s still a big tease….

While we count sleeps until the Chameleon’s row (!) we have three more row-along patterns available – an amazing beach umbrella and two more wonderful types of fish to add to your healthy ocean ecosystem.

Seaside Adventures: Week 5

Coasting along on our Seaside Adventure row-along.

Marian’s vision is really coming together now – we’re halfway through our participant list for the Seaside Adventure row-along. Thank you for all taking part in this event, and thanks to Mel Shields for hosting it. It makes me feel really proud that we are doing this one last thing to honour our friend, and doing it so well.

This week we have two more row-along patterns available – a beautiful mermaid, caring for her ocean home just as Marian was passionate about the health of our oceans. And a cheeky hermit crab who has made instant best friends with our wayward Chameleon!

Seaside Adventures: Week 4

Travel delays!

Well, it seems that the Seaside Adventure tour bus is running late this week…..

I think the Chameleon must have got distracted making sandcastles. Or perhaps he was just hiding under the boardwalk eating bucketloads of ice cream.

Luckily, we can still make up the time and be on schedule again for next week. The Chameleon knows a short cut. C’mon, has he ever led you astray?! Yeah, don’t answer that. 😀

This week the row-along patterns available are a fabulous paper-pieced bucket, a terrific starfish in an ocean wave block and a set of ocean friends appliqués. Worth the wait I’d say.
