Seaside Adventures: Week 3

Postcards from the Seaside!

You’ve got mail!

Dear Friend,
I have been on the road for 3 weeks already, but there’s not been a dull moment! The weather is glorious, the coastline is stunning, and the beach is littered with beautiful quilt patterns just waiting to be scooped up for my collection. Having a ball, wish you were here!
Love from Clever xxoo

As you can see, the Chameleon is still enjoying Marian’s memorial Seaside Adventure Row Along enormously! I hope you are keeping an eye on the pattern releases and are building up your collection. This week we have three new patterns, all as terrific as the first two sets. Turtles, sandcastles and more colourful fish. Keep reading to find out where to collect the rest of your happy mail. 😀

Seaside Adventures: Week 2

Back Again! Two from Two!

So, are you enjoying the Seaside Adventure so far? What a terrific set of blocks we were treated to last week. I know Marian would have been so pleased.

I hope you are enjoying seeing Marian’s vision come to fruition as much as I am. There are three new blocks available in her Row Along this week, and they are all beauties. Very insta-worthy locations, so add them to your adventure itinerary by heading over to the Chameleon’s pop-up travel agency on the blog!

Seaside Adventures and The Ultimate Memory Quilt

Well, Hello!

Bet you did not expect a Chameleon in your inbox today! Taaa Daaa! Sorry about the absence….. it was only supposed to be for a few weeks, but once I got out of the blogging habit….. well, you know.

Long story short, I went back to work. In a newish-to-me industry. And it turns out that it is haaaaard and tiring for an old Chameleon to her learn new tricks! So as a result I haven’t been doing much sewing and even less quilt-related writing. I miss them both. I miss you all. But I do get out and about more. 😀

The reason why I am suddenly dropping in today is to let you know that there is an important blog hop starting this week. One that you do not want to miss. I agreed to be a part of this hop a looooong time ago – before getting a job. And before Marian Pena of Seams to be Sew passed away and left a big hole in the quilt blogging world. You may remember that Marian organised an annual row along of free quilt block patterns. It was always bigger than Ben Hur. And she had already started organising her event for 2021 when she died. So, many of us bloggers who had signed up opted to finish the job in memory of a good friend and amazingly generous quilt blogger. Thanks to The Quilting Room with Mel, who agreed to host, Marian’s last Row Along is a go.

So, here I am, dusting off my blogging skills, swallowing my shock at how much WordPress has evolved while I was distracted, to take you through the Seaside Adventure Row Along. This week we are starting with three patterns. They are all adorable and free for you to collect for a short while. Just head on over to the blog.

Home to Roost: Colour & Inspiration Tuesday

Last but not Least

The last block to reveal in the Lunarcy quilt is the Year of the Rooster. So we will finish the Lunarcy set today and make plans to start releasing the patterns for this fun quilt.

And if that wasn’t enough to crow about, I discovered yesterday that the Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society of South Australia chose one of my quilts for their latest promotional material. It isn’t of any real consequence, but it made me feel good.

I’ve also dug out a few interesting pics from our recent Coober Pedy side trip, as promised last post. The first is a Wedge-tailed eagle. It’s Australia’s largest bird of prey, and reportedly the third largest eagle in the world when ranked for wingspan. We get them in Arkaroola too, but they are much easier to see up close on the highways, where they take advantage of roadkill. This one briefly posed for me on our way home from our recent trip to Coober Pedy.

I see your rooster, and I’ll raise you one! At a wingspan of 2.8m (9 ft 4 in), it is a very big, and very stunning bird.

Gettin’ on your Goat! Colour & Inspiration Tuesday

Getting on your Goat colours at Clever Chameleon

Here we goat again

Just a quick post to say “Hi, hope you are having a great week!”, introduce the Year of the Goat block for the Lunarcy quilt and say “See you again in a fortnight”.

Goats are not allowed in Arkaroola – they are a ecological disaster in arid Australia. But the Chameleon quite likes goats – they are slightly insane, very clever…. and also quite tasty. So I thought I had better show off my goat appliqué while we are away from the wilderness sanctuary. Here he is…..

Being on the road this week, I’ve goat to admit that I didn’t get time to organise features from the past week, or to organise a fresh party. So you’ve just got the parts of Colour & Inspiration Tuesday that I could organise ahead offline. Butt…. we’ll have a big knees up when the Chameleon is back at his post in a fortnight, so I’m relying on you to keep adding to our party in the meantime.
