Blossom Batiks Splash: Colour Inspiration Tuesday and Link Party

Teal with red-violet and blue-violet. Now I’m inspired!

Have you seen these recent fabrics from RJR Fabrics? Today’s colour board is created from this really beautiful subset of the current RJR Blossom Batiks – Splash collection. Aren’t they glorious?

These colours are consuming a lot of my attention at the moment. Hopefully you’ve caught up with yesterday’s release of the tenth bear in the Beary Colourful BOM…. and saw the blue-violet RJR fabrics used there. Of course, September’s bear was red-violet. And November’s will be teal. But that’s not where my current obsession with these colours ends – not by a long shot. There is a small thanksgiving-themed project in progress in my sewing room featuring these fabrics as well. I intend to have it for download on the blog for you by the end of the month, all being well. Maybe even have some fabric leftovers to give away! 🙂

Beary Colourful BOM: Special Treats Blue-Violet Bear

Healthy Choices Red-Violet Bear made his debut last month…… but what of his non-identical twin, Blue-Violet Bear? Of course, he must be October’s Bear….. the Blue-Violet Bear of Special Treats!

Blue-Violet Bear comes straight after Red-Violet Bear, just like dessert after a healthy meal! You know you want him! He says that after you have taken Healthy Choices Bear’s advice and been good to your body, you should also ignore him and spoil yourself occasionally.

Special Treats Bear is the reminder that “sometimes foods” are actually okay to have sometimes…. after all they are not called “never foods”!! For that matter, treats don’t always have to be unhealthy. I am sure that Healthy Choices Bear and Special Treats Bear actually have some recommendations in common. In the same way that they are coloured two hues of purple. Highly related.

Special treats may or may not be great for your body, but when well-deployed, are certainly good for your mental health. And even more so when shared. So the tenth bear in the Beary Colourful Quilt BOM series is ready to share his ice cream with you….. or is he? Add this enigmatic bear to your collection as you work out whether that ice cream is in his hand for sharing or is on his tummy just for show. Aurora Star Revisit: Colour Inspiration Tuesday and Link Party

Today I have for you a recycled idea and a brand new quilt!

For September, the theme for the Island Batik Ambassador projects is “Starstruck”. This theme immediately and happily put me in mind of a quilt design I conceived for Colour Inspiration Tuesday last November. Finally, I had a reason to put “Aurora Star” at the top of the ideas-to-play-with priority queue. Then, noticing that it’s now Bloggers’ Quilt Festival Week, I found the extra motivation I needed to get a quilt finish on the table asap. Literally. Ha! There’s a filthy big clue to what I’ve made this week. 🙂

My house is part shambles, part memories, part make-do, and all love. So is my mini quilt!

Welcome to My House! This is my stop on the latest fun blog hop being hosted by Carol of Just Let Me Quilt where every stop has a project with a house on it.

Well…… most stops……. technically my mini quilt doesn’t feature a house after all. I started with the best of intentions, but being improv, it evolved slightly.

But it is a quilt that features the essence of a building, and every kid you know will wish they lived there. And it started life as a house quilt. So I think it still counts. Welcome to the “my kids wish it was” My House blog hop stop!

Beary Colourful BOM: Healthy Choices Red-Violet Bear

Today we truly have a Berry Colourful Bear to add to our Beary Colourful family. Please welcome the Red-Violet Bear of Healthy Choices!

Red-Violet Bear is so bursting full of health and vitality you could probably catch a wellness from this guy! He chooses good healthy food full of vitamins and antioxidants. He chooses clean air, drinks lots of water, exercises regularly. And he knows that treats are only “sometimes foods”. If there is a healthy choice to be made, Red-Violet Ted is all over it like a rash. He is of course too perfect to be true, and can get a bit irritating like the aforementioned health issue. But he isn’t into guilt trips. He just genuinely wants to inspire you to be just a little bit kinder to your body today than you were yesterday!

Please welcome the very energetic and springy Bear of Healthy Choices to the Beary Colourful family. I’m not sure this quilt is really big enough to contain him, as he looks ready to leap off his block. He also looks good enough to eat, but you’d have to catch him first!

The ninth bear in the Beary Colourful Quilt BOM series is super enthusiastic about all things good-for-you. Add this healthy bear to your collection as a reminder to live well and be kind to yourself.
